Humble Beginnings.

Well here is the first post to my new Blog.

Welcome to the Gamer's Corner. A place to discuss games, and other forms of nerdy goodness.

This first post will discuss the rise of the casual gamer, and it's effect on the gaming industry as a whole.

The games industry has seen a sharp decline in year over year sales for the month of February (Seattle Times), 25% according to NPD reports, but this can't be put down to a bad month. The past year has seen the radically declining sales of both, games hardware and software, and the rise of digital sales and mobile gaming.
This brings an important question to the forefront, with the advent of cheap mobile games, has the industry as a whole suffered? From these preliminary reports we can see that while console and PC game sales have dropped, mobile games are on the rise, accounting for large profits to publishers such as EA Games. So due to the rise of cheap mobile games, are gamer's and companies choosing to invest their money into cheaper or even free games, that use micro transactions, which in the end can cost either nothing, or more than a retail game, or has the long console generation brought a sense of fatigue to gamer's who are just hoping and waiting for something new.

This discussion shall be continued... (as im creating this blog for uni)
